Despite dealing with knee issues lately, Hassan Whiteside still found ways to contribute and he was a major factor in the last game for the Miami Heat. Denver Nuggets were up by 18 at one point in the game and it looked that the Heat will get their fourth straight loss, but Whiteside had another thing in mind, a victory. Heat's center finished the game with the third career triple-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking 11 shots. He also had a steal and two assists.
Whiteside will be a free agent after this season and he will be eligible for a maximum contract, which is capped at $16.4 million for one year, up to $70 million for four years. Whiteside makes under a million dollars this season and is looking for a big pay day. When asked about the free agency, the 26-year old big man said the following:
“I want to go to a team that’s about winning, that has a good understanding of what it takes to win and a good city with a good fan base.”
There is no doubt there will be huge interest for Whiteside's services this summer and many teams will try to land him. Miami Heat will have no edge over other teams as he will be unrestricted free agent and all 30 teams will be on a level playing field when it comes to offering him a new contract.
